The History of Victory
On December 12, 1999 the birthing of Victory Christian Ministry, Inc. was celebrated at Amerihost Inn, 100 N. Park Court, Stockbridge, GA. At that service, approximately 20 persons were in attendance. Of those attending, five joined Pastor Tolbert and to formally form Victory Christian Ministry, Inc. The first members to join Victory were Gladys Tolbert, Thomas McKennie, Minnie Williams, Josephine Strong, Wylonda Tolbert and Jackie McKennie.
The first formal business meeting of VCM was held on February 12, 2000. At that meeting, Jackie McKennie was appointed secretary. A second meeting was held on February 27, 2000 to officially elect a Board of Directors/Trustees.
VCM Officially became tax exempt on April 20, 2000. On December 4, 2000, VCM acquired 12.6 acres of land located at 839 Stagecoach Road, Stockbridge, GA. On this land was a 2 bedroom single wide mobile home. VCM donated this mobile home to a family deserving a blessing.
VCM held it's first summer picnic Juy 15, 2000. Women's Day was celebrated on May 21, 2000. The speaker was Evangelist Fay Richards, the theme was "Women, walking in the Word". On June 25, 2000 the men of VCM celebrated Men's Day. The theme was "It's not the suit that make the man". The speaker for the occasion was Rev. William Boddie. These celebrations were just a precursor to better things to come.
Pastor Tolbert established a new member class. A class curriculum was designed and published and the first class began July 29, 2000. The class was designed to instruct members on the basic knowledge of scriptures and church structure.
VCM sponsored it's first Gospel Musical on November 18, 2000 with Carol Sue Kidd of Acworth, GA; the Anointed Messengers of Stone Mountain, GA and Lucille Pope and the Pearly Gates of Atlanta, GA.
VCM is continuing along it's path of raising up a body of believers that know how to use the Word of God to overcome the wiles of the devil, to become victorious over all strongholds and situations in their lives. Knowing that Satan will be busy attempting to stop that which God has ordained. With continued prayer, and continually stepping forward, we know Victory will continue to be victorious.
